Professional expertise

Knowing a movement well means knowing where it typically wears, which lubricants belong where, and what the timing figures should look like when it is running correctly. That knowledge comes from time at the bench working through many examples of the same caliber — not from a manual alone.

At Mainspring the focus has been on Swiss and Japanese mechanical movements across a range of complexity. We are straightforward about the types we take on and those we do not, so owners are not left waiting only to find the work is outside scope.

Equipment matched to the work

Technology & tooling

A timing machine measures rate and amplitude across positions. An ultrasonic cleaner removes dried oil from components that cannot be cleaned effectively by hand. Caliber-specific tools allow chronograph and calendar mechanisms to be disassembled without damage.

These are not unusual tools, but they need to be on the bench and in regular use to matter. We invest in maintaining them so that each service is supported by the right equipment.

Clear, responsive communication

Customer service

Owners receive a reference number when a piece is booked in. We contact you if anything unexpected is found during service, with a note on what was found and what the options are. The watch does not move forward until you respond.

We respond to email and telephone enquiries promptly — typically within one working day. Queries about progress on a piece in service are always welcome.

Value & pricing

Three service tiers are published with their prices in Thai Baht. The complicated overhaul is quoted individually because the work varies by caliber, but the estimate is always shared and confirmed before we start.

No hidden charges are added after the fact. If a part needs replacing, we note it separately with the cost. The final invoice matches the estimate unless a change was discussed and agreed along the way.

Measurable, documented outcomes

Results & outcomes

Timing figures are recorded before service begins and again once work is complete. This makes the improvement visible rather than assumed. The final report includes both sets of numbers so you can see the change.

If the movement cannot reach a satisfactory rate, we say so rather than returning it with a vague note. Occasionally a worn part limits the achievable accuracy — and owners deserve to know that before deciding on further work.

Pre-and-post timing comparison

We measure rate before opening the movement and again on completion. Both sets of figures appear in your service record — a tangible record of what the service achieved.

Permanent service archive

Records of work done at Mainspring are retained. If you return the watch years later, we can pull up what was serviced, replaced, and measured — useful for understanding the piece's history.

Plain-English summaries

Condition reports use plain language, not trade terminology. If a component is worn, the report says what that means in practice — not just the part name and a code number.

Insured postal intake

Owners outside the Chonburi area can send their piece by insured courier. We confirm receipt, provide a reference number, and return the watch by the same method once service is complete.
